Oil of Wight Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the common questions that we get asked

Do you do face serums?

A serum is basically a liquid that is concentrated with active ingredients. You have to be very careful using high concentrations as they can irritate the skin. We are working on providing serums as soon as we have worked out the most effective formulations.

How do you do a patch test?

It's pretty simple, just put a small amount of the product and apply it in a small area to the inside of your forearm. If in 2 hours you see no sign of reddening or swelling and your skin looks normal, you should be OK. For more details, see the how to use page.

Will you fix my skin problem?

We can't promise to cure all skin problems; no one can. We advocate using our products to see if they do physically help you and are delighted to work with you to refine preparations. Customers have reported improvements to many conditions, but as everyone's skin is unique, we can't guarantee results.

Can I join in your research?

At the moment we have all the help we need and can cope with but we'll hopefully have more time soon. We'll let you know when we need help with trials.

Why don't you use sesame oil?

We don't use oils that staff members have any issues with, so we don't use walnut, peanut or sesame oil in our products, even though sesamol is particularly useful for actinic keratosis.

Why don't you use olive oil?

Olive oil is very high in oleic acid but is quite a heavy oil. We prefer to use Marula oil which is has and even higher concentration but is a much lighter oil and has better skin age protection properties.
